What this does
You draw on a white canvas with your finger, a stylus, or a mouse, then tap Analyze. An AI model looks at it and decides: is this handwriting, or is it a picture?
If it is handwriting, you get the words back as text you can copy or share. If it is a picture, a second model redraws your rough sketch as a clean, polished image in the style you picked.
You need an OpenRouter key first
The looking and the redrawing are done by outside AI models, so the tool needs a key of your own to reach them. This is a one-off setup and costs pennies per drawing.
- Make a free account at openrouter.ai and add a few dollars of credit.
- Go to openrouter.ai/settings/keys and click Create Key.
- Copy the key (it starts with sk-or-v1-) and paste it into DrawAssist when asked.
Drawing
The canvas is plain white, like a sheet of paper.
- Pen, eraser, four colors, and three line widths sit above the canvas.
- Undo removes the last stroke. Clear wipes everything (it asks first).
- Only the part you drew is sent, with a little white margin, so you can draw small or large.
Picture styles
The style box next to Analyze decides how a picture is redrawn. You can switch styles afterwards without redrawing anything.
- Clean line art: black lines on white, like a tidy version of your sketch.
- Cartoon: bold outlines and a few bright colors.
- Realistic: a detailed, lifelike rendering of the subject.
- Watercolor: soft painted washes.
- Flat icon: a simple vector-style symbol.
Got it wrong?
If it read your doodle as text, or your messy handwriting as a picture, use the "Treat it as a picture instead" or "Read it as text instead" button on the result screen. The drawing is not sent again for the text case; the model already transcribed what it could.
Install it like an app
Nothing to download from a store. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen like any other app.
- iPhone: open in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open in Chrome, tap the menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
Your privacy
Your drawing goes straight from your browser to openrouter.ai and the model you chose; it does not pass through any server of ours. Your key is stored only in this browser. This site records your name and email when you first sign up, nothing else.
Common questions
How much does a drawing cost?
Reading handwriting is a fraction of a cent. Redrawing a picture is roughly two to four cents with the default Gemini image model. OpenRouter shows exact charges on your account page.
Which models does it use?
By default Google Gemini 2.5 Flash to look at the drawing and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image to redraw it. Both can be changed in Settings.
Can I use an Apple Pencil or S Pen?
Yes. Anything the browser reports as a pointer works, and pressure is ignored so lines stay even.
The redraw looks nothing like my sketch.
Try Clean line art first; it stays closest to what you drew. Simpler sketches with fewer overlapping lines also redraw more faithfully.
Does it work offline?
The drawing part does. Analyze needs the internet because the AI models run on OpenRouter.
